Center of Light Project
in Thailand
The Center of Light Project is a start up project about 3 hours from Bangkok. The project director, Sophia Rakthai, is making plans to open a small youth center, called The Center of Light. Emily Fitchpatrick met Sophia in Bangkok and has since become dear friends. Sophia has an amazing testimony of how God restored her after being sold as a child into human trafficking. On Eagles Wings Ministries is excited to financially partner with Sophia. The stories of how God is using her is amazing!
According to Sophia "There is a number of teenagers, aged 10 to 15, that try to organize money by themselves. Some try to be prostitutes at the border with the police officers and the tourists there. There seems to be a long 'tradition' of prostitution with police officers in this area. Nobody seems to care about them, the parents seem to busy with their own problems like unemployment, alcoholism, divorce. How can we leave this situation behind and do nothing? That is why we want to start our place to be a Center of Light for them so they can come and share their fears and worries with us, and ask for guidance and support. We want to reach out to them, connect with them and be able to counsel them and their families in times of need. We want to give them opportunity and activities when they come, maybe a place where they can enjoy and hang out. We will assist with financial support to continue their education. Our purpose is to bring them to the light of Christ."
