We are so thankful for each of you who have given to our ministry! As a result of our last fundraiser in August, we were able to send team members to a couple of very important training conferences. These conferences allowed us to make social service contacts, as well as learn more about how to care for these victims. We are working on several outreach strategies. Even though we do not have a home yet, we are reaching out to these girls and offering counseling/services to them, so your continued support is needed and much appreciated.
We are a non-profit 501 c3.
Every holiday we take gift bags to the area strip clubs for the dancers. These bags are filled with items such as beauty products, perfume, Bibles, books, spa products, etc. This has been an effective tool in building relationships with these girls. Our next outreach is Christmas.
We are establishing a jail ministry for women in the Buncombe County Jail, many who have been victims of sex trafficking. This will be a mentoring program and Bible Study using the workbook A WOMAN WHO HURTS, A GOD WHO HEALS.
We are currently developing a newsletter called OUR VOICE, EXPRESSIONS AMONG GIRLS which will be sent to youth detention centers in NC.
We have counselors and mentors available to work with these girls.
If you would like to support us monthly, it would be greatly appreciated. We are working on outreach and restoration for victims of sex trafficking! Please stand beside us in this fight!
The Center of Light Project is a start up project about 3 hours from Bangkok. The project director, Sophia Rakthai, is making plans to open a small youth center, called The Center of Light. Emily Fitchpatrick met Sophia last year in Bangkok and has since become dear friends. Sophia has an amazing testimony of how God restored her after being sold as a child into human trafficking. One Eagles Wings Ministries would like to see Sophia's dream become a reality!
According to Sophia "There is a number of teenagers, aged 10 to 15, that try to organize money by themselves. Some try to be prostitutes at the border with the police officers and the tourists there. There seems to be a long 'tradition' of prostitution with police officers in this area. Nobody seems to care about them, the parents seem to busy with their own problems like unemployment, alcoholism, divorce. How can we leave this situation behind and do nothing? That is why we want to start our place to be a Center of Light for them so they can come and share their fears and worries with us, and ask for guidance and support. We want to reach out to them, connect with them and be able to counsel them and their families in times of need. We want to give them opportunity and activities when they come, maybe a place where they can enjoy and hang out. We will assist with financial support to continue their education. Our purpose is to bring them to the light of Christ."
Sophia also shared one story of a 14 year old girl who is not going to be able to go back to school because she can not afford it. When I asked her the cost, it was only about $50. We can make a big difference there, our money goes a very long way!
